DAY 9 – Cervantes – Perth (3 Hours)

Time to prepare breakfast

The final product.

Our first destination is the Pinnacles.

Located around 200 kilometres north of Perth, near the coastal town of Cervantes, this extraordinary landscape is filled with thousands of ancient limestone pillars that seem to emerge straight out of the desert. Some stand just a few centimetres tall, while others tower several metres high, creating a scene that feels almost otherworldly.

Formed over thousands of years through a combination of natural processes—including the erosion of limestone from ancient seas—the Pinnacles tell a fascinating geological story. Walking or driving through the park feels like stepping onto another planet, especially during sunrise or sunset when the shifting light casts long shadows and turns the sand a glowing gold.

Well-marked walking trails and a scenic driving loop allow travellers to explore the formations up close, while the surrounding area provides opportunities for stargazing, coastal views, and encounters with native wildlife.

The Pinnacles Gallery offers a captivating glimpse into one of Western Australia’s most iconic natural landscapes. Showcasing striking images of ancient limestone pillars rising from golden desert sands, the gallery highlights the Pinnacles’ unique shapes, textures, and colours across different times of day. From soft sunrise hues to dramatic sunset shadows, each image captures the surreal beauty and timeless mystery of this extraordinary desert wonder.

Next, we headed to Lancelin Sand Dunes.

You can rent a sandboard from this store.

Or 4X4 ATVs.

But we decided to brave it out.

At the summit, finally.

Next time, we will try sand-boarding here.

From the Lancelin Sand Dunes, we made our way to Discovery Parks – Perth Airport.

Instead of cooking, we went to the nearby Forrestfield.

To try out their local Fish and Chips.

For tonight, we booked the site with an ensuite bath.
DAY 10 – Perth

This is what it looks like in daylight.

A quick breakfast before we start the day.

We planned to visit Kings Park.

Not easy to find a place to park our 8m long motorhome in an urban area.

Kings Park is one of the world’s largest inner-city parks, offering a stunning blend of natural bushland and beautifully landscaped gardens in the heart of Perth.

Perched above the Swan River, it boasts sweeping city skyline views, vibrant wildflowers, and peaceful walking trails—making it a must-visit spot for nature lovers, photographers, and anyone seeking a relaxing escape with a spectacular backdrop.

Then it’s time to return the Motorhome.

Last checks before we handed over.

After returning the Motorhome, we walked over to the next door to collect our rental car for the next 2 days.

This MG was allocated to us.

After a short 15-minute drive, we arrived at our hotel, Holiday Inn West Perth.

Checking in was easy.

A beautiful restaurant is also located within the Hotel.

Our good-sized room.

We decided to drive to Chinatown for a look.

Did not find anything interesting there and ended up at Domino’s Pizza.

We had dinner back in our hotel room.
DAY 11 – Perth

Checking out early in the morning.

We found a parking space at the University of Western Australia.

We started walking towards the seaside.

Until we arrived at the little blue house.

We stayed there for about 20 minutes.

Our last destination was the Watertown Brand Outlet Center.

The directory of the Outlet.

Shops that we visited.

A quick meal before leaving the place.
