Salamanca Market<\/a> is the most visited tourist weekend market in Tasmania. It opens each Saturday from 8.30 am to 3 pm, rain or shine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The market is a short 30-minute slow drive from our Airbnb. Please note that many of the parking lots around the market only allow up to 15 minutes or shorter. We found a per-entry parking compound at Montpelier Retreat Parking about a hundred meters away. Please read the ticket for its expiry time. It should cover you till the end of the Market operating time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are over 300 stalls selling fresh local produce from local growers, hot coffee, delicious breakfast and lunch options, lots of gift ideas, and plenty of handmade products.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We decided to give this pocket chicken curry a try. It turned out to be very delicious. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For discounted branded sunglasses, go to The Cat & Fiddle Arcade, a 5 minutes walk from the market. There are two Sunglass Huts in the Arcade. One is a standalone store, the other is situated within Myer. Don’t rush, compare all the prices and models before you hand out your hard-earned money. There are up to 50% discounts on some selected Ray-Ban and Oakley sunglasses. Other brands are also available. Each of us bought a pair of sunglasses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After spending some time in the surrounding area, we made our way to Mount Wellington<\/a>. It’s a short 30-minute drive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As you reach the summit, you will not miss this 130-meter-tall transmitter tower. There are ample parking spaces around. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note that Mount Wellington is 1271 meters in height. The temperature up there can be quite low at certain times of the day. Do remember to dress warmly. The temperature can drop to just a few degrees when approaching nightfall. Watch your footing as you walk, as it may be slippery due to snowfall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are also tracks that you can go hiking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We drove down and reached Hobart City just as it got dark. We decided to go to Mures Lower Deck for dinner. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The soup was creamy, the fish tender, and the scallop fresh. You must remember to order the soup if you eat there. Their calamari is as usual soft, tender, and delicious.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
