Cement Creek Redwood Forest<\/a> is located 85km east of Melbourne. The drive time required will be around 90 minutes non-stop. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The first Californian Redwood was planted in the 1930s, the trees are about 90 years old now. Californian Redwoods grow to be the tallest trees in the world at up to 115m and they can live for more than 2000 years. They were uniformly planted and gave a captivating\u00a0sight.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The roads leading to the forest are well-maintained. There are parking spaces available and you should not have a problem getting one. Please remember to keep the place clean and tidy and remove all your trash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From the view here, it was as though they were touching the sky.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Winter is not winter if there is no snow. During our search for snow, we found out from this official website<\/a> that there will be about 10cm of snow the next day. Hurray, we packed our winter gear and got ready for today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s time for some snow at Mount Donna Buang<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It’s just a 45-minute drive from Redwood Forest. Along the way up the mountain, you get a bird’s eye view of Melbourne from high above.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The summit is 1245 meters high. During the winter, it’s great for toboggan, building snowmen, or snow fighting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There is a lookout tower that is 21 meters high and offers panoramic views over Melbourne, the Yarra Valley, Dandenong, and Cathedral Ranges, Mount Baw Baw, and the Alps. It is also a popular picnic area and starting point for walks on the mountain in the summer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Parking is available 300 meters down range. Sorry, dogs are not allowed here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After parking the car, we took a slow walk up the summit. The sides of the road are all covered by snow.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can climb up the 21-meter-high tower to get a better view of the place. Your kids would love this place. Do check out the forecast beforehand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Time to get some food into the body after all the snow fight. We drove down to a small town below and found this restaurant called Three Sugar Cafe and had a wonderful meal there. Take a walk around the neighborhood if you have the time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Since we are around Yarra Valley region, we must at least visit one of the wineries. We chose Yering Station Winery<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

For AUD10 per person, you can taste a series of wines from their cellar. The amount paid will be deducted when you purchase wine from them. It was a fun experience, I lost count of how many glasses of wine I took. But you must be at least 18 years old to participate in the wine-tasting session. They serve in small groups and explain in detail the wine they are serving you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
