Our final destination for the day was the Visiting Marriage Bridge (走婚桥)
The Marriage Bridge, also known as Zouhun Bridge, is a popular attraction at Lugu Lake, known for its connection to the Mosuo people’s unique “walking marriage” customs. It’s a 300-meter-long wooden bridge where men would traditionally cross to visit women at night. The bridge is a symbol of the Mosuo’s matriarchal society and their “walking marriage” tradition, where couples do not marry in the traditional sense, but rather the man visits the woman’s home for the night.

While walking towards the bridge, you will pass by many shops operated by senior folks from the Mosuo tribe. It’s mostly handicrafts and dried fruit. Support them if you can. The items are very affordable.

Notice Board at the start of the bridge.

The crossing starts here.

The bridge cuts across a grass field.

More stalls are found on the other end of the bridge.
