DAY 1
A good start to a day was to have a good breakfast.
We drove 3 and a half hours back to Bangkok Airport to return the car. As we would spend the next few days in Bangkok city, a car would not be required.
To reach the city, we used the Grab app to call for transport.
This would be our hotel for the next few days.
It has a good-sized room and most importantly, it’s quite new.
The lobby was not big but cozy.
Main Lobby.
As the hotel was some distance from the main road, Buggy service was provided to 3 nearby Meeting/Drop-off points.
This is what I call Good Service. Over the next few days, we used the Buggy to go to the drop-off points.
Our buggy is here…….
Based on our experiences from all our previous trips, BTS and MRT are the best modes of transport within Bangkok city. Grab cars are next but because of the traffic, it can also be a nightmare when you get stuck in traffic congestion.
Both the station and train were well maintained.
Our destination tonight was Jeh O Chula. There was already a long queue outside.
Remember to take a queue number from the person outside. The average wait time is between 30 minutes to 2 hours.
As there was still time, we walked around the neighborhoods.
The shops were full of people having their supper there.
We found this store interesting and gave it a try. It was worth the visit.
Our number was called not long after we returned. The inside of the restaurant was not very big. But every table was occupied.
We ordered their most popular “Tom Yum Mama”. It’s instant noodles in Tom Yum soup with many ingredients added. It lives up to its name.
We also ordered vegetable and Thai Fish cakes. Overall the meal was good.
DAY 2
We booked this hotel with breakfast.
The first place we visited today was Platinum Fashion Mall.
The place looks brighter and cleaner now compared to a few years ago.
Found this popular dessert store just a few shops down.
Had to give it a try.
Across the street was Platinum Market.
The place was much more packed and messy.
See what I meant about the traffic in Bangkok?
We continued our journey using the linked bridge.
And arrived at Central World.
It was a big mall with different sections and levels.
There were many restaurants on the top floor. We selected this.
The food was delicious.
There was a big Pikachu and Friends fair outside the Mall.
We continued walking and arrived at Siam Paragon.
The place was full of youths and brightly lit up.
It was still early, and for the fun of it, we decided to take the Shuttle Boat for Icon Siam from Saphan Taksin station.
It cost 10 baht per person.
It was just a short ride.
Icon Siam is one of the favorite hangouts for Thais and tourists.
The Mall is huge.
This was the restaurant we chose for dinner.
We were given the upper-level seating where we could look down into the Mall.
We ordered Pad Thai.
Garlic Chicken.
And Fried Fish.
It was a fantastic meal.
Looking forward to the next day.
