From Hobart, we took a domestic flight to Melbourne. The flight took 3 hours longer as it flew to Sydney first instead of directly to Melbourne as planned. Luckily, we managed to inform our Car Rental in advance. By the time we arrived in Melbourne, it was already evening.
Upon touch-down, we hurriedly collected our luggage and headed for the rental car company counter. Do note that most rental car counters are located across the road and not within the Melbourne terminal. See the map below for more information.
From the Arrival Hall, at the street level exit, walk across the road towards Park Royal Hotel. You should see a number of car rental companies there. The cars are parked inside the Short Term Carpark, so it’s very easy to reach them after the documentation.
We found a big dent in our rental car. We took a video and pictures of it and ensured the car rental staff recorded it on the rental agreement. After that, we set off for our apartment in Melbourne CBD.
Our apartment was Winston Apartment located on Collins street. It is a fully equipped service apartment and we were allocated a unit on the 50th floor. As the check-in office was already closed when we arrived, a self-check-in instruction was emailed to me and the keys and remote for the parking were already waiting for us at the EzyMart store on the ground floor.
After collecting the keys and remote, we had to drive the car to the back of the building where the car park entrance is located. The car park is actually a separate building from the apartment. Therefore, you have to take a lift to the ground floor, exit the car park and enter the apartment from the main door. By the way, the overnight parking charge is AUD30.
This is what the apartment looks like.
The living room comes with a sofa and a small dining table.
A complete kitchen setup.
Master with attached bath.
2nd bedroom with shared bath.
After we settled our stuff, we proceeded to China Town on foot. It’s only a 15 minutes walk from our apartment.
Since we are in China Town, let’s try some Chinese food.
After dinner, we chance upon this dessert shop. It comprises Red beans, grass jelly, pudding, tapioca pearls, yam, and sweet potatoes.
After dessert, we headed back to our apartment to rest.
