We preferred to take the midnight flight so that when we reached the destination in the morning, we still have a whole day ahead of us. Upon landing in Hobart after a connecting flight from Sydney, we headed to the rental car counter at the Airport Arrival.

A number of car rental companies are situated here. The parking for the rental cars is just a short hundred meters from the counter. Turn right as you exit the Arrival Hall and you will see it. Remember to take photos and videos of the rental car as you take over from the staff.

We preferred to rent an SUV for the type of terrain and distance we will be traveling. It’s more spacious and stable but the trade-off is the petrol consumption. Therefore we usually get a Japanese model known for its fuel efficiency. In addition, we brought along our own in-car front and back camera to install in our car. This is for the purpose of providing proof of innocent in the event of a car accident. They are quite cheap in nature and you can just plug them into the cigarette lighter socket or use a power bank to run it.

After collecting the rental car, we headed toward Smiths Speciality Pies to try out their famous Curried Scallop Pie.

It was something different from the usual pies we had eaten before. There was quite a lot of scallop inside it.

We continued our drive and arrived at Ross Village after around 90 minutes drive.

We spent a short time looking at some landmarks around town and ended up at Ross Village Bakery.

Their most popular pastries are Vanilla slices. Don’t miss it when you are there.

We arrived at our Airbnb after another 60 mins of driving.
All the Airbnb in Australia during this trip provided us with a key code to enter the place a few days ahead. Therefore there is no need to make arrangements with the host to meet up for the handover. You can come over at your own chosen time. This made the whole process seamless.

After settling down our luggage, it was already nighttime. So we headed down to the nearby Coles for some groceries.

It’s quite big and complete. We had a good time visiting it.

These are the things we bought from Coles.

Our first home-cook meal in Tasmania.
